So just what is Cricket Idol?
Cricket Idol is an idea created by the Papakura Cricket Club to promote interest in cricket within our community, and to add an element of fun and competition to the process
How does it work?
Attendees will be split up into their relevant age brackets. We are looking at these groups;
Year 1-3
Year 4-7
Year 8-11
Year 12-13
Seniors
Papakura CC coaches will then run drills for the groups and, by a process of elimination, will determine the CRICKET IDOL for that group.
An independant panel will then select the overall CRICKET IDOL for the day!
Are there Prizes?
Yes, there sure are!
Northern Districts have kindly donated 5 full sized bats, each signed by the entire ND 2014/15 squad! The winners of each age group will win one each.
Cricket Express have come onboard as well, and have donated $100 worth of vouchers - thanks guys!
And the overall winner will also receive free fees for the 2015/16 season, saving up to $250!
Am I eligible to enter?
As long as you arent currently registered to another club (ie: any club but Papakura) you can enter!
So, Cricket Idol is open too;
- anyone who is keen to try cricket
- anyone who is keen to get back into cricket
- any current Papakura Cricket member
Do I have to have played before?
Nope! It doesn't matter if you are brand new to the game, or a veteran wanting to get back into it - CRICKET IDOL will cater for all.
How do I register?
Either pre-register (which is ideal!) by clicking on the Regsiter tab at the top of the webpage, or come along on the day and we will help you.
How long will it take?
Cricket Idol starts 10:30am on Sunday March 8th, and we envisage it being wrapped up by midday
Who are the Papakura Cricket Club?
Based at Bruce Pulman Park, the Papakura Cricket Club were formed in 1959 and have been promoting cricket in our community ever since.
We currently have teams in every age bracket in the local Counties-Manukau competition, and we are aiming to build our membership with keen local cricketers.
